![]() #GIRLBOSS is a New York Times bestseller that accounts the life of Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. Over the years, Amoruso has been able to create a name for herself as a fashion icon, a leader, and a role model. The author, Sophia Amoruso herself, narrates the reality behind the brand Nasty Gal and who she is as a “girl boss”. She takes her audience on a journey to find out who Sophia Amoruso is and how she became her own boss. She discusses her story of success by being honest about her life before the success and how every aspect of who she is as a person has an impact on the way she sees the business world and the way she performs in it. Amoruso is very open and honest about how she started super small and how she made it big. She does not embellish reality with sugar and sprinkles, she gives her readers real insight about how difficult it is to become your own boss. ![]() A very strong aspect of this book is how easy it is to read. Amoruso uses humor and personal anecdotes to inspire her readers to do everything that it takes to get things done. She has a very unique and personal way to motivate people to not settle and work hard to accomplish their career goals. Usually when I try to read “business” books or “inspirational” books… I get bored and do not get past the third chapter, reading #GIRLBOSS was entertaining and I actually enjoyed it! I found myself constantly smiling and sometimes even laughing out loud. Amoruso gives a very empathetic vibe, she understands the struggle, she can relate to most of her readers, and it even seems like she wants the best for us. I probably sound crazy because I do not know the author personally (I WISH!) and probably never will; but after reading her book and watching a Netflix show inspired by the book, I feel like Sophia and I are not very different. Her story of success after years of trying to figure out what the hell life is about motivates me to not give up and to keep searching for my passions.
